Seller terms
This page explains, in plain language, how consigning with Bid Boss works under our standard consignment agreement. It is a summary, not a contract. The binding document for every consignor is their own executed consignment agreement. Where your signed consignment agreement differs from these terms, your agreement governs.
1. The model
1.1 You consign your goods; we inspect, grade, photograph, catalogue, list and sell them in our weekly no-reserve auctions, acting as your disclosed sales agent. Title to your goods stays with you until a buyer purchases them; it never passes to Bid Boss by consignment.
1.2 There are no listing fees, no storage fees during cycles, and no charge to run your goods through the auction. Bid Boss earns a commission on what sells; the buyer-side premium, handling fee and tax are Bid Boss revenue and never reduce your proceeds.
2. Money
2.1 Commission is set in your agreement's Schedule A, per account, never a global rate: a flat rate, a fixed tier by item price, or a volume tier by monthly sales, as agreed.
2.2 Your statement shows your numbers: each of your sold items, its hammer price, the commission charged, and your net. It never shows buyer identities, other sellers, or Bid Boss's other revenue. A verification path exists on request, and a statement question raised in writing within the statement window is reviewed against the underlying records.
2.3 Payout is monthly, on the 15th of the month following, or next business day, by EFT, on funds actually collected and not reversed, refunded, charged back or disputed. Provisional figures shown during a cycle create no payment obligation until funds are collected. A change to your banking details automatically holds the next payout until re-verified, for your protection.
2.4 Costs we pay in our own name for your goods and recharge to you, such as freight, disposal or special handling, are recharged at cost plus HST.
3. Cycles and what happens to unsold goods
3.1 An unsold item relists automatically in following cycles, up to three, with opening bids stepping down between cycles. After the third unsold cycle your item moves to disposition by your authorization: we notify you and you decide. Take the goods back, authorize liquidation, or authorize disposal. Title never transfers to Bid Boss automatically.
3.2 If you take goods back, a disposition handling fee applies for the pull and staging. If you authorize liquidation, it is treated as a final consignment sale: you receive your commission split on the actual proceeds, and Bid Boss keeps its commission plus a disposition fee. Items that are worthless are scrapped for a flat disposal fee with no proceeds. The figures are in your agreement.
4. Standards you agree to
4.1 You warrant your goods are yours to sell, unencumbered, lawfully acquired, accurately disclosed as to condition and history, not recalled, not counterfeit, and compliant with safety law, with disclosure required for regulated categories such as lithium-battery goods. Prohibited items are refused, returned at your cost, or destroyed where return is unlawful, per the prohibited items policy.
4.2 We grade on our own inspection. Accurate disclosure is in your interest: the grading model, your listings and your settlements all rely on it.
4.3 Neither you nor anyone acting for you may bid on your own goods.
5. Getting started
5.1 Apply through the seller intake on bidbossinc.ca. Approved sellers sign the consignment agreement electronically, a portal account is created, and banking details are collected only inside the authenticated portal after signing, never on the public form, and the person managing the account completes identity verification before the account activates.
